The Rentokil team in Wyomissing is seeking a Senior Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join its corporate law group. The ideal person will be asked to provide internal legal counsel and assistance to include some or all of contracting, compliance, litigation management, regulatory licensing, employment law, insurance management, and corporate secretary function. Specific tasks may include maintenance and updating of corporate records, oversight of external legal counsel handing litigation, management of insurance processes and reporting, contract review and drafting, human resources counseling and development of internal training programs. Specific skills will include computer and reporting proficiency, understanding of basic to moderate level legal principles, attention to detail in document preparation, legal research abilities and, above all else, a passion for internal customer service.  Given that this is a “Senior Legal Assistant” position, it will be expected that the successful candidate will not only have at least five years of major firm or corporate law department experience, but developed reviewable proficiencies in most if not all of the above areas.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist external legal counsel in reviewing and preparing legal documents, including subpoena responses, discovery assistance, case investigation and witness preparation.
  • Review customer and vendor contract documents to align with business necessity and company requirements, including from time to time preparation of new or revised standard contract templates.
  • Maintain corporate records of the various Rentokil companies, to include regular and special updates, board requirements, consents, etc.
  • Gather, review and analyze data to prepare internal reporting relating to the Company’s legal exposures and compliance framework.
  • Develop relationships with external counsel in foreign countries that will be in place to assist the Company’s growth in North America, including learning and guiding local requirements with the local management team.
  • Develop a counselor relationship with Human Resources Business Partners to serve as an advocate for making Rentokil an Employer of Choice as well as fully compliant with Legal Obligations.
  • Update internal clients routinely on pending matters, and serve as the effective link between our business and external resources.

Experience Requirements:

 

  • At least five years of experience completing independent work as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in a corporate law practice (major firm or in-house group), with emphasis on contracting, compliance, litigation support, regulatory management and/or corporate formalities.
  • Strong legal drafting, program management and team organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently, drive meaningful impact and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A devotion to pleasing internal customers.
  • A two or four-year academic degree in a related field, along with Paralegal certification.
