    Data Control Clerk




    The Data Control Clerk 1 will support the Food Safety Division and the Steritech Institute through coding, and entry of data and information from public health (PH) agency inspection reports and the acquisition of inspection information.


    The Data Control Clerk 1 will ensure timely and accurate review and transfer of detailed information from public health agency food establishment inspection reports into Steritech’s OneLook audit system designed for the management of public health agency inspection report information.  


    In addition, this individual will be responsible for assisting Steritech Institute staff to acquire food establishment inspection documents directly from public health agencies.






    • Maintains ongoing expert knowledge of the most current FDA Food Code.

    • Receives and reviews public health agency food establishment inspection documents to identify required information for entry into the Steritech OneLook audit system.

    • Communicates effectively with local or state public health agencies when necessary to obtain copies of inspection reports directly from them.

    • Properly correlates conditions/violations cited on PH agency food establishment inspection reports to the appropriate sections of the FDA Food Code prior to entry into the Steritech OneLook audit system.

    • Enters all required information from PH agency food establishment inspection reports into the appropriate sections of the Steritech OneLook audit system.  

    • Consults with Manager, Public Health Relations, or Institute Technical Director on a regular basis to discuss urgent issues or barriers to timely and accurate data entry.

    • Maintains equipment necessary for the electronic receipt of inspection documents from the Steritech Institute.



    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, and/or background required.  



    • Must have a minimum of three years experience as a food safety regulatory inspector, food safety industry auditor or similar work experience.

    • Must have experience in interpretation and application of the FDA Food Code including correlation of observations deemed to be out of compliance during inspections or audits to specific sections of the Food Code.

    • Proficiency in use of computers including inspection/audit data entry software applications, email software, and Microsoft Office applications.



    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (environmental health, environmental science, microbiology, food science, etc.)

    • Experience as either a food safety auditor, regulatory inspection staff trainer or standardization officer.
